Salt Coffee Roasters sits quietly on Doggett Street in Newstead, carving out a reputation among locals as a reliable spot for quality coffee paired with thoughtful bites. The cafe leans into a casual, bustling atmosphere that feels equally suited to morning locals grabbing their daily fix or mid-morning catch-ups over expertly made espresso drinks.

Their cappuccino stands out for warm, nutty flavors complemented by real chocolate, showing the care put into each cup. Regulars often appreciate the variety of coffee styles from classic lattes to more innovative almond piccoloccinos and cold brew options. The latte art and presentation add an approachable charm without detracting from the straightforward coffee-first focus.

Food-wise, Salt Coffee Roasters manages to balance quality with a concise menu that changes slightly day-to-day, featuring items like crumpets with espresso butter, Cuban sandwiches, and the occasional lobster triple cheese toastie. Breakfast seekers enjoy creamy scrambled eggs with crispy bacon and fresh sourdough, making it a spot that can handle more than just a quick caffeine hit.

The space can get lively, especially on weekends, drawing in a mixed crowd of nearby workers, local Sydneysiders craving good coffee, and those who appreciate a friendly barista team keeping things moving efficiently even when busy. However, given the limited pastry supply, early visits are recommended if you’re after one of the quickly snapped-up baked goods.

Visit Salt Coffee Roasters for a grounded, no-fuss coffee experience in Newstead, best enjoyed before brunch crowds arrive. It fits neatly into the neighborhood rhythm as a casual meeting point where quality coffee and simple, well-executed food come together without pretense.

Awesome coffee and food. It’s sometimes difficult to find a place that offers both with such a good quality. At Salt you have the best cappuccino with real chocolate, and a variety of Agnes products that changes daily. We ate scrambled delicious eggs so creamy and tasty with the best sourdough toast. The bacon was crispy as well. And couldn’t miss the opportunity for the epic cookie.

Not the best option in the area, but it’s really a good café. Friendly staff, good quality coffee, and reasonable prices. The only downside is that their pastries run out quickly since. So if you come on weekends after 10 and want a pastry with your coffee, this is not the place.

Salt. Coffee Roasters: A Must-Visit for Coffee Lovers Salt. Coffee Roasters is an absolute gem in Brisbane. My recent visit was a perfect example of how a packed cafe can still deliver an exceptional experience. Even with dozens of customers ordering, the baristas and managers were on fire, getting orders out hot and fast in their signature hot pink cups. The atmosphere, despite the crowd, was buzzing in the best way. Everyone seemed to be there for their caffeine fix, creating a lively and welcoming vibe. My small flat white was well worth the 10-minute wait. The coffee itself was exceptional—rich and perfectly brewed, a testament to their in-house roasting. What truly made the experience memorable was the owner, Zac. He was the man "zooming around," personally delivering coffees with a smile. I had a chance to chat with him, and his great Australian humor and genuine passion for the business were infectious. He joked about being "a chook with its head cut off," but he was running the place with an impressive grace. Salt. Coffee Roasters is more than just a cafe; it's a testament to great service and an amazing product. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to enjoy another spectacular coffee and chat with Zac again.

We visited this cafe on a Sunday & they were serving coffee in takeaway cups only. The coffee was very good, smooth & flavoursome, just not a fan of takeaway cups. Service was fast & efficient. Seating mainly outside & can be noisy

Salt Coffee Roasters has become one of my go-to spots in Newstead. The coffee is always great, the toasties are seriously delicious and the whole place just has an amazing vibe. Not to mention that the service is super quick too, so it's perfect for me to pop down there and grab something on my way to work or lunch break! Super chill spot and super tasty food & drinks. Can’t go wrong!

One of my absolute favorite cafés! Of course, the coffee is excellent, but what I love most is their chili scrambled toast, freshly prepared by the chef in the small open kitchen. It’s such a simple dish, yet you can really see the chef’s skill shining through. They serve everything on beautiful antique-style plates that feel like something from a grandmother’s house, which adds so much charm and shows great taste. On top of that, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. A café I’ll keep coming back to
